4. Use of Personal Information

Personal information may be used for the following purposes:

  • Authenticate users during login.
  • Prevent abuse and spam (rate‑limiting, IP blocking).
  • Publish user reviews and photos on the Site.
  • Generate site‑usage statistics.
  • Respond to inquiries sent to the Site operator.
  • Display name and Link – When a user provides a display name and/or a personal link, those values are rendered on every review page the user creates, regardless of whether the user has enabled the public‑profile feature.

Personal data are never sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

5. Public Profile Page (Optional)

Users may elect to make a public profile page that aggregates all of their reviews in one place.

When you enable this feature (via the “List my reviews on a public profile page (URL contains my account name)” toggle in your account settings), the following personal data become publicly accessible:

  • Your account name (used as the URL slug, e.g. https://www.airlinefoodreview.com/profile/johnsmith, and displayed on your public profile pages)
  • Links to all the reviews you have posted, displayed together
  • Display name and Link – If you have entered a display name and/or a personal link, those values are also shown on your public profile page.

Enabling the public profile is an explicit opt‑in. You may disable it at any time.

6. International Data Transfers

  • Your data may be stored on servers located outside of your jurisdiction.
  • Data may be hosted in any country around the world.
  • Data may be transferred across national borders at any time, as needed for processing, backup, or service delivery.

7. Data Retention

Account Information

  • Account is retained until the user deletes the account or the site operator deletes it.
  • Accounts with no posts: If an account has never made a posting, it will be automatically deleted after 5 years of inactivity (no login).
  • Accounts with posts: If an account has posted content, it will be automatically deleted after 20 years of inactivity (no login).
  • When an account is deleted, the database record itself stays, but the account name, password, email address, display name, and the IP address used during account creation are erased or anonymized.

Reviews and Photos

  • Reviews and photos are retained by default unless the user explicitly deletes them or the site operator removes them.
  • Manual account deletion – When a user deletes their account on the account‑deletion page:
    • If the optional checkbox “Retain my reviews, photos, and other public content forever” is unchecked, all of the user’s reviews and photos are removed together with the account.
    • If the optional checkbox is checked, the account itself is deleted, but the user’s reviews, photos, and any other public contributions remain stored indefinitely.
  • Inactivity‑based automatic deletion – When an account is automatically deleted due to inactivity (no login):
    • If the “Keep user content forever” flag in the user‑account settings is not checked, the account is deleted and all associated reviews and photos are also deleted.
    • If the “Keep user content forever” flag is checked, the account is deleted but the user’s reviews and photos are retained indefinitely.
  • Data entered for airport lounges cannot be deleted and is retained indefinitely, even after the account is deleted.

Log data

  • Log files may be retained for up to 5 years.

8. Right to Erasure / Deletion

  • To exercise your right to erase or delete your account and its data, you must verify that you are the account owner. If ownership cannot be confirmed, the site operator cannot delete the account or any user‑uploaded content on your behalf.
  • Once logged in, you may delete both your uploads and your account.
  • You can recover your account name and password by using the email address associated with the account.
  • If you forget both your account name and password and cannot access the registered email address, the account will stay inactive and will be deleted automatically in accordance with the inactivity‑deletion schedule outlined above.

9. Updates to This Policy

The privacy policy may be amended from time to time.
